Day 4 itinerary
1 May 2014
Today's initial plan was to go hiking at Bukhansan Mountain but due to the weather forecast saying that it will rain, we decided to go to SM POP Out Store at MD instead! It is located at Lotte Young Plaza which is just opposite MD streets.
TADAH IT'S SMTOWN POP OUT STORE~
I FINALLY SAW THE FREAKING POSTER IN FRONT OF MY VERY EYES YOU DON'T KNOW HOW HAPPY I WAS T^T Only took some cause the sales guy was looking at me rather weirdly lol
Behold, the photo book that everyone's been talking about in my timeline! I think I'm the one who spends the MOST here among my friends cause I end up buying all the
I actually wanted to buy this WOLF jacket that Chen/Chanyeol wore in their XOXO album photo shoot but it wasn't there AND even if it is, bet it'll cost a bomb :( Cause the normal shirts already cost that much :( Nonetheless, I was happy cause I got what I wanted and most importantly, my to-do-list which is to go to SM POP OUT STORE is ✔ =D
As we passed by the streets to get to the subway station, we came across to what we think is a protest for the Sewol Ferry Incident. The road was specially blocked for the protesters to hold their protest so it was kind of new to me witness such event happening. I was amazed yet sympathized the victims of the Sewol Ferry Incident and my heart and souls goes to each an every one of the victim :(
From Myeongdong to Chungmuro and finally we're here! The station is unique too with all the old and more traditional structures compared to the ones in Myeongdong. But the similarities is that, STAIRS STAIRS are everywhere. At the rate of climbing up and down the stairs, if I didn't burn alot of calories, I don't know what to say.
So we headed off to Miss Lee's cafe for our lunch! The cafe is famous for it's lunch box as well as YongSeo couple whom filmed We Got Married here! Besides them, there's also a few other artist that came here to enjoy their lunch boxes and patbingsoo :)
The place is very cozy but quite cramp for me especially the seats cause it is so small my legs had to suffer under the short table >< Nonetheless, it was cutely decorated with notes........and more notes.
My friends ordered the infamous lunchbox while I ordered patbingsoo. Their servings are huge so if you're not a big eater, do consider sharing with your friends xD
I REALLY love the patbingsoo cause it is so worth it!! Despite having so many ingredients; there's fruits, rice cakes, cereals, sunflower seeds and red beans, the combination is perfectttt. With it's shaved ice in coconut sauce, it's no wonder why the patbingsoo is famous too. I'm not sure about the lunchbox but my friend mention that its tasteless cause there's not much sauce added? I don't know haha.
Overall, I had a good and surprisingly filling lunch. I think it's all thanks to the fruits and rice cakes? Plus, my friend expect me to finish the whole bowl!! /facepalm/ hahaha. I'll probably rate it 8/10.
The sun begins to slowly set when we left the cafe. Outside the cafe, we were distracted by this magician who was performing in front of a large crowd. Was curious so we all went to find out and watch the performance for a while before heading off to our next destination which is the Bukchon Village!
We actually got lost for a moment but thanks to the map, we managed to find out way. Furthermore, my friends' sense of direction is damn daebak I just had to follow them wherever they go. Heh.
We don't really know where is the official entrance of the Bukchon Village so when we saw an alley that have rows of traditional houses, we didn't hesitate to walk in and yup, we were right! Actually, there's no official entrance or etc, as long as we're at their streets, we'll be on the right track ;) Since the village is home for the people, we had to be alil considerate so we can't make so much noises especially when it's already 6pm.
The village is indeed breath taking, especially when you can see the Namsan Tower at the end. I usually see the villages in dramas and when I get to see them in real life, I was ecstatic. The place is so clean and peaceful I'm delighted to be here :) It is indeed a place for healing.
We left the village at night around 8pm cause it was already dark and we have to find our way out xD It actually look a lot prettier at night cause of all the beautiful lights so I had to leave the place with a heavy heart :( I will be back!!
We passed by pretty cafes and streets and see more couples. Lol.
Board a what-we-thought-was-a-shuttle-bus but when everyone tap out, we were shocked to see them paying for the fare cause when we went in, we didn't even pay >< Thank goodness the ahjusshi didn't stop us or maybe ignore us cause we got off the bus without paying any single cents >< But seriously, it was a shuttle bus and from what we know (back in Sg) shuttle bus = free bus ride. Maybe it's different here in Seoul? After finding our way back to the subway, we board the train to Seoul Station for our Sauna session at Silaom Sauna! Told you it's healing day today ;) We had to walk quite a while to the sauna and below are the pictures that you'd probably pass by when you're on the way there (will update)
Apparently, the long walks were not enough cause we had to go up this hill to go to the Sauna -.-
By the time we reached, it was already 9 pm so we paid for the night entrance instead, from 9 pm to 3 am(?) (I can't rmbr how much but I will update again) The ahjusshi passed us our clothes and towels and explained a few places to go/to not go - mainly not to go to the male changing room and male public bath lmao duh. Feeling extremely excited, we made our way up to the female changing room! and BAM. I was greeted with............I don't know if I can say this but.....naked women -_____________- THE HORROR!!!! Not half but fully from top to bottom :( My innocent eyes T^T I dared not to look up so I looked down all the way till I reach my locker. Then someone said "Excuse me" so I faced the person and then BAM, again, naked ahjumma. It was funny how I tried my best to avoid looking up but after a while, I got used to it whenever someone strips herself down xD Sigh, I know....we're all girls...but still!! I'm shy okay *^^* (and the thought of naked ahjummas scare me cause I saw what I don't want to see and you don't really want to know in detail)
Since my friends and I are all shy girls, we went to the toilet to change instead xD
Passed by this and apparently, it's some hair removal thinggy where they use heat to remove your vjay hair LOL.
Head straight to the salt fermentation floor and people are all slacking their life away and it actually make me feel at peace. I never feel so peaceful before whenever I'm out in the public, but here, I really am. Made the infamous sheep-ear towel after practicing yesterday night at our guesthouse xD
We began with the Oxygen room first since we're all newbies and who knows we might passed out if we try the hottest one xP And mehhh, even though it is good for our lungs hahaha, it made us feel very sleepy so we head out and try others. I mean, it's not time yet for us to feel sleepy right? The night is still young man!
We tried the least hottest, which if I'm not wrong is 60 plus deg and WOW, it is H O T but still bearable. As we move along, I decide to try the 2nd hottest which is 65 deg and tbh, I actually love it! Despite the hot stones or whatever-it-is-called burning my butt and feet like mad, I like the fact that I am sweating and that it makes me feel at ease hahahah, weird huh. There's actually this angmoh who went in too but went out withing seconds xD Before that, he was with us in the 60 deg room. Well, if I enjoyed the 65 deg, then I'll definitely enjoy the 86 deg as well!
Me and Gina in the 65 deg room
I literally feel like I'm in a hot oven, being baked like a potato. Before I even stepped into the "room", the moment I open the door, the freaking hot air slapped my face and welcome me in. Knowing that my feet will burn, I quickly tiptoed and run to the wooden plank that was against the wall and decides to sit on it while enduring the heat.
Within seconds, I sweat like mad and my face felt super hot. But to be honest, I really feel good, its like as if the heat is burning my stress and burden away. Gina joined me but she left a few minutes later hahaha. Went out after I can't take it anymore and tried the ones with lower heat instead, which is the 60 deg plus and my favorite too.
To cool ourselves down, we went to the Ice Room which apparently, I can't take it. Hahah. I only last a few seconds in there and by then, I gave up >< It's so cold how could you even...
Guess I'm no Queen Elsa uh? hahahahah okok.
We were all so exhausted and hungry so we decided to buy some boiled eggs and Gina and Liling went to buy the rice punch drink. Initially, I wanted to buy but my friends mentioned that there is wine in it so gotta give it a miss. Since my only lunch was the patbingsoo, I bought 3 eggs for myself xD Wanted to buy more but that Liling stopped me cause of cholesterols blablabla! mehhhh. hahaha.
The cafeteria in the sauna
Whenever you're in a sauna, you'll probably want to play that "crack your head/your friend's head with the eggs" and so, we tried it. But dang it! No matter how hard we hit the egg on our head, it didn't crack -.- How do you Koreans even do it?! I swear I had migraine after cracking the egg on my head ><
Time passed as we talked about how relaxing it felt to be in the sauna with my friends and that we should have stayed a night here. Next time, we'll definitely going to stay in the sauna! Bought more snacks, took more pictures and then, we decided to take rest at the charcoal room where the walls are covered which charcoal which is apparently good for you skin/immune system and etc?
It was actually quite comfortable despite the fact that my leg went a lil off the bed cause the bunk was rather small lol. All of us fell asleep for a while and by then, it was already 11pm plus ><
Tried the room once again for the last time T_T and I went back to the 86 deg room xD Spend the last few minutes in there before I cool myself in the freezing ice room.
Before and After going into the sauna xD Told you the 86 deg drained out most of my energy xD
Since it was already late, the sauna wasn't packed with people which is a good thing.
We deserve some ice cream~ Bought this on our way back to the changing room. Unfortunately, this can't be found in Singapore anymore :(
We took one last explore in the sauna hence we went to the sleeping room. Such a bummer we didn't stay here but it's okay ;) By the time we changed to our usual clothes, it was already past midnight and there is no more train service so being the adventurous us, we went to walk, yup, WALK from Seoul Station all the way to Myeongdong. We're spartas aren't we ;D The night was as always, chilly and the streets were peaceful, only that the taxis kept on stopping cause they thought we wanted to ride but no thanks Ahjusshis. It took us about a few hours to get back to our guesthouse and thank god we reached safely :)
All the walking made us hungry so we bought some drinks and snacks at 7 eleven for our supper!
Bought the Tom Yam cup noodle from Singapore xD
Healing day is indeed a healing day! Even though it had been a very long day, I didn't feel tired but instead, I felt happy and didn't want the day to end. From going to SM POP OUT STORE to heal my fangirl heart to the BUKCHON VILLAGE, SAUNA and walked all the way from Seoul Station to Myeongdong to heal myself, I couldn't have asked for more.
#FOREVERBLESSED
