Day 3 // Shopping marathon
written on Friday, May 1, 2015 @ 4:23 AM ✈
I know it's been decades since #BKKoolkidz but today, I really feel like continuing from where I stop so, who's up for another update?? ^___^
11th January 2015
After the concert, we actually did not went back to our hotel but instead, made our way to oppars hotel hahahaha. So the 5 of us excluding the Kakaks (me, Diana, Haestar and her friends - they board the mini van together with us in the end, together with the Kakaks) walked all the way to S hotel (can't remember the name of the hotel but it started with S). We were contemplating if we should stay after midnight but since Diana's mum was all alone in the room, we decided that we'll leave by midnight even if SJ have yet to reach.
The boys were still not there and it was already midnight so we left the hotel, halfheartedly. The walk back to our place was a cold and windy one and both of us got reminded of our Seoul trip :( Once we were back, we found out that Diana's mum was fast asleep and since both of us were still wide awake, we decided to visit the Kakaks...with fruits for them hahahaha.
The next morning.....
Hotel slippers & mirror wefie!
I think I was quite hyper that morning, maybe due to all the post SS6BKK syndrome ><
Breakfast was good, as usual, and being the glutton I am, I had about 3 rounds before we headed off to our next destination and agenda for the day: S H O P P I N G.
We were so confident standing at the far end of the station only to realize that the train will only stop at the place where there are arrows on the ground -_- The security guard was probably judging us because we seemed so confident, talking, laughing and taking pictures of the station xD Typical tourist...
After realizing our mistake, we quickly went to the front and waited for the train to go to Platinum, one of Bangkok's heaven, I mean shopping mall! Since Kak Huda and her friend, Rachel, went for spa in the morning, Kak Afni joined us instead, which made her lead us the way since she came her before. She told us that she's VERY bad with directions and at first, I told her that she can't be as bad as me because everyone knows how bad I am with directions lol, but I was wrong, she's indeed very bad hahahaha. Despite getting off at the right stop, we kept on walking to and fro for 20 minutes just to find the Platinum building, only to realize that we actually went the opposite way xD Sigh, it's okay, I need to digest all the food from breakfast afterall!
Me and Diana were so excited when we saw this army(?) of Snoopy right outside Central World, ready to be photographed! The sun was blazing hot and thank goodness I brought my sunglasses out.
Welcome to the Universe of Happiness :D
The amount of failed and unglam shots we took!!
But I gotta say, the best photo award goes to....
Look at how my hair was defying gravity hahahahaha
Aww you cute Snoopy!!
No doubt #BKKoolkidz
All the shopping malls reminded me of Orchard, except that there are more malls here and how big the buildings are! Apparently, there weren't a lot of people here during the day, on a Sunday but I guess that this place will probably be packed at night, so it's good to avoid the crowd.
Diana thought that I took a picture of this girl and that she was posing for me when I actually wanted to capture the buildings behind her lmao
Continued our walk to Platinum which took us another 92105 years lol. Why is this place so huge???? Passed by food stalls selling all different kinds of street food by the streets which totally reminded me of Seoul :( After what seemed like decades, we finally reached Platinum Fashion Mall. This mall is seriously so huge okay! There are two buildings and Kak Afni told us to go to the 2nd one mainly because there sells more female clothes etc. I was quite excited because Bangkok is known as Shopping Heaven for reasons... We only had about 1.5 hours to shop so we decided to shop separately. Plus I wanted to find clothes for my siblings, but I think I actually made a wrong move. I can never shop alone because guess who regretted not buying this long maroon colored dress which cost $20?! I know I know.... :( If there's Diana, maybe she'll like, "Eh buy, it's cheap" then I'll probably consider, and reconsider and in the end buy it. I kept on bargaining with the lady, thinking it was a bit expensive but when I told Kak Afni about the price, she was like, "Eh, not bad yknow" and I'm like :(((((( Sigh, next time, I should just GO FOR IT urghhh. Spend most of the time leaving the shop with n o t h i n g so at the end of the day, I bought 2 Frozen pjs for my sister and 1 shirt for myself lol. I am very indecisive and the fact that I only have 1.5 hours of shopping is not helping either. Speed shopping is totally not my thing I guess D: However, I find the clothes at Platinum similar to the ones at Bugis Street - small and totally 내 스타일 아니야 hahahah jkjk. But I still had fun exploring the mall, alone xD There was once when the mall played Avril Lavigne's What The Hell, which was our anthem for #BKKoolkidz and I totally found myself smiling and singing along to it. After all the shopping, we finally met again to go to MBK for lunch. There's no way we're going to board the train so we decided to head towards the cab stand, until the tuk tuk drivers began to approach us and suggested we board their tuk tuk. Kak Afni asked them how much will it be from Platinum to MBK but they asked her how much was she willing to pay lol. She was quite irritated at first so in the end, the guy offered us 100 bhat (~ $4) and thought that it was pretty cheap, until Kak Huda told us that the cab fare would have costed the same too lol....
Since there were 6 of us, we had two tuk tuks!
Anyway, it was my 2nd time riding the tuk tuk, the first was during Cambodia trip with my poly mates so it was nice relieving those days. And it actually feels really good to have the wind blowing into our faces. Lunch at Yana's Restaurant together with Kak Huda and her friends! The first time Diana and I came across this restaurant in the internet, we laughed out loud because it reminded us of our friend, Liyana. We're like, "Eh jom gi Yana nye restaurant" hahahaha. Okay in case you don't know, Diana and I are lame like that lol. Finally tried the authentic Thai Milk Tea which is superrrrr sweet that I had to wait for the ice to melt but I still like it!
Oh hi we met again! Just don't let the color deceive you. It may not look bright red like the ones we had at the seafood restaurant, but it is as spicy as the bright red tom yam!! Sighh, I miss you already....
This sweet and sour fish is mainly W O W.
How can I simply not fall in love with this Green Curry?! I love Thai food so much it hurts </3 I think this is like one of the best Green Curry I have ever tasted :Q____
Sliced chicken! D E L I C I O U S.
You probably have that one friend who tells you to not dig in first until all the food has arrived because she wants to take a picture of them and well, I am that one friend hahahaha ><
Food rating: 9/10
Waited for the rest to reach and then we took one last photo together! I still remember the night after our SS6BKK, we gathered up at the Kakaks room and decided to spazz, cry and laugh together about the concert. Even though it was a short catch up session, I really had a great time :') There was a flea market going around at that time but since we were rushing to meet Fonn, we had to give it a miss :(
Met Fonn before we proceeded to the most awaited shopping place.....
(!!!!!)
Chatuchak is indeed THE shopping paradise in Bangkok! The street was as expected, crowded with tourists and we were totally amazed with how h u g e this place is. There were rows of never-ending stores, which we definitely can't spend just one day here shopping so imagine us, spending only a few hours here. Oh and you'll probably get lost in the middle of shopping because when you turn to the right or left, front or back, it will lead you to another store, so imagine how huge this place is! My aunt even told me not to hesitate and just buy when you see something nice at the first store because you'll never get to go back to the store again. At first I was like, how huge can this place be, until I really see it with my own eyes...
Oh and I finally get to try the famous coconut ice cream and coconut juice! Fonn insisted on paying for them, so sigh, thank you Fonn!!
Why you so delicious....
To our surprise, most of the shops closed earlier than usual and Fonn told us that it might be because of the rainy season :( In the end, we didn't get to shop a lot but compared to shopping at Platinum, this time, I bought more clothes and bags which are all worth the price!! =D I'm one happy shopper!
It was nearing 9pm by then and we were all famished from all the walks so we decided to have our dinner at a cafe! There are so many cafes here in Bangkok (another reason why I should come here again) There's this familiar looking Hello Kitty cafe which I've seen one in Seoul and a few other Korean cafes. Everything about Bangkok reminds me of Seoul, really. In the end, we settled with pancakes.... I wanted to buy their Matcha pancake but to no avail, it was out of order :( So I bought apple crumble instead while Diana and her mum shared a chocolate pancake (I can't remember what Fonn ordered though heh) It was one filling dinner and the portion was quite huge too so it's worth for money! Food rating: 8/10!
Took this for the sake of my sister because big fan of Frozen xD
Went on our separate ways with Fonn because her mum went to fetch her while we walked back to our hotel... 2nd last night at Dusit Thani and we just don't feel like sleeping
So both of us went to explore the hotel despite the long day. I mean, how can you not explore a 5 star hotel right hahaha
The only souls that time lol
Lights out after midnight and my feet started to ache after all the shopping :(((
